Villa Stolli

This is a charming old house with a lovely garden, and we had a very enjoyable vacation here. However, there are several issues that need addressing to bring the villa up to the standard of a top-quality rental.
1. We arrived at the Hotel Villa la Borghetta who act as agents for the keys and house management. We were charged 200 Euro for a cleaning fee which I thought at the time was excessive. This proved to be the case since the house was not very clean when we arrived.
a. There was dust on many surfaces
b. The swimming pool was very dirty especially round the edges
c. The floors were not clean (feet ended up quite black)
d. The glasses and many cups were not clean.
We asked for more glasses and the staff at the hotel were quack to pass on the request and a few days later these arrived, as did a new tea pot (the old one was cracked). The staff were helpful on that occasion. Later the first week the usual chap who looks after the villa turned up, he had been on holiday. He did some cleaning, especially in the pool and left fresh sheets and towels in a big sack. He also brought a new umbrella that had been broken in a storm the weekend we arrived. So, the house was eventually made ready but that was 3 days into our visit.
2. The house design. A wonderful old place but it is a semi-detached, we had two sets of neighbours, both of whom were very friendly. This needs to be made clearer on the literature. The temperature mercifully had relented from the 40 plus readings of the summer, so we had an average of 31-33 in the daytime. Increasingly, as global warming increases, very hot summers are more likely. The house was equipped with many shutters but bizarrely, not on the biggest patio doors facing south. That meant the living room was too hot. There are some very old, non-functioning blinds in the top bedroom where again, there should be shutters. This room was also too hot. In general, the cooling arrangements for the house are only just adequate for standard summer temperature and I think air-conditioning should be considered.
3. The pool itself was rather shallow and surrounded by cypress trees, lovely to look at but regularly needed pine needles removing. This was only undertaken once during our two week stay. We did it the rest of the time. The dirty water led to an ear infection for one of our party.

Très bel endroit et vaste maison avec une très belle vue sur la campagne Toscane. Parfaite pour un séjour à 6 avec des SDb à chaque étage.
La piscine est un peu ancienne et plus petite que sur les photos et il manque la climatisation … surtout compte tenu de la quantité de moustiques le soir
