We really loved this place. The castle itself, the location, the grounds, and the apartment was spacious beautiful and tastefully decorated. Had a Very comfortable stay. One drawback was that the kitchen was very basic and nothing was supplied, so you have to BYO everything. No salt, pepper, sugar, tea or coffee. Nothing. I was already warned about this in a previous review so I was prepared. Despite this flaw, it’s still worth staying. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Even borrowed a toaster from them. Check in is like checking into a hotel rather than a typical Airbnb where you might meet someone with the keys or a keysafe. You go straight to the reception area. If you want a traditional family run restaurant, try “il focolare”, 5 mins away by car. Was fantastic. A Car is essential. I would recommend driving 15 mins away to get supplies from the big supermarket ( Eurospin). All in all…..A truly magical place. Thank you

Firstly the location is awesome. A breathtakingly beautiful spot. The grounds were like staying in an attraction in itself. Staying in a castle was just the coolest thing ever and so unique. The restaurant on the grounds was top notch. We only ate there once but would have eaten there every night but we had a lot of day trips planned so we were not there for dinner. Staff was very pleasant. Beds were comfortable, shower hot, plenty of cookware in kitchen. Only downsides were that the floors were pretty filthy. But I imagine the stonework is nearly impossible to clean. We wore our flip flops walking around the inside so that we didn't track dirt and dust into our beds. Also, there were bugs everywhere. Mosquitoes, moths, centipedes, and flies. This didn't bother us too much since we are not sensitive to bugs and understood that is sort of the nature of staying in the countryside in a castle vs a modern hotel. Overall, we loved it!

Nous avons passé un superbe séjour, au coeur de la Toscane. L'environnement est magnifique, le lieu superbe et paisible. Les commerces et restaurants sont accessibles à 5/8minutes en voiture, mais chaque trajet est une promenade et découverte. L'appartement est très grand et agréable. La cuisine manque un petit peu d'équipement et d'un fond d'épicerie. Nous recommandons ce logement!

Went with a family of 5 (3 kids) and we really enjoyed staying there. It was a great adventure for the kids. Pool was a relief from the heat. Super close to Florence and San Gimigiano and others. Really enjoyed our time

Fantastic place! We loved it!!

Beautiful area to visit and explore. Accommodation was rustic but fun to stay in. It’s a very old building with much charm. Don’t expect luxury like duvets or any supplies, but it is comfortable enough. They have a pool and bar. You cannot get food before late afternoon or evening so you are on your own at this level. The restaurant is average. It’s a good base to stay in to explore the area. A fun experience. They should open the bar in the morning for coffee or cuppucinos but they do not. Good restaurants are close by. I highly recommend bistrot Lo Zero in Montespertoli. Amazing food and service at that restaurant.

Byliśmy z dwójka dzieci na wakacjach rodzinnych i jesteśmy zachwyceni. Apartament był bardzo obszerny z pięknym widokiem z każdej strony. Wszędzie bardzo czysto. Wspaniałe miejsce jako baza wypadowa do Pizy (1h), Sieny(1h) nie wspominając o Florencji (30 min).Bardzo przyjaźni ludzie z obsługi. Czas spędzony w zamku Montegufoni był dla całej naszej rodziny magiczny. Na pewno wrócimy.

Piękne miejsce z niesamowitą restauracją, widokami które zapierały dech w piersi. Samo miejsce warte zobaczenia i odwiedzenia- jest przepiękne położonym starym zamkiem z historią i klimatem. Bardzo polecam!!!

This is the most beautiful castello set in gorgeous grounds. Staff really helpful and friendly, great food at the restaurant. We did not have wifi in our apartment but were able to hotspot mobile phones. Absolutely loved our stay here and would come back again - thank you.

I had a great stay at the Castle. The view was absolutely beautiful & there was so much to see. Seriously, you could spend a couple hours walking the grounds admiring the architecture & surrounding nature. If you’re contemplating staying here, go for it. The views itself make it a memorable stay.

Thanks for a great experience! we enjoyed our staying in the lovely castle! Valentine was so kind and helpful. The restaurant was just delicious. The kids also enjoyed the pool :) Every thing was tidy and clean and the surrounding is jut wow! You have to take into consideration that WiFi is available only at the reception and that there quite some steps to take to get to the apartment. Gracie and Ciao, Ola.

It was an amazing place. The apartment itself was huge, with beautiful bedrooms, lots of windows and a terrace where we had lovely breakfasts every morning. While it was easy to reach Florence and other towns scattered around, we spend quite some time in the hotel, or in its garden, or near the swimming pool. Wherever you look - it's very beautiful, and you can go on a hide through the wineyards and olive gardens.

We got a bit unlucky with the weather in October. It rained a lot and so we didn't spend as much time enjoying the beautiful grounds or the lovely pool or simply walking in the hills as we had hoped to. We mostly used the castle as a base from which to explore Florence, Siena, Pisa (all about an hour's drive away) and even Venice (3hr drive). Technically, for this trip at this time of year, a little Airbnb in Florence would have been a better choice for us. However, Montegufoni is absolutely beautiful, our apartment in the castle was spacious, clean, quiet and felt very private. We enjoyed our time there thoroughly. We failed to note that no basic supplies are provided in the kitchen (such as sugar, salt, coffee etc., and you have to bring your own toilet paper, too. Not a problem, just good to know.) Highly recommend a car! Very friendly and helpful staff, great (dinner) restaurant, accurate pics - we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this stay to anyone, ideally in fine weather :)

l'environnement est magnifique dans le chateau de Montegufoni, avec ses cours, jardins et vues. L'appartement est spacieux, et la terrasse permet de profiter du soleil au petit dejeuner, l'équipement est vraiment minimal dans la cuisine, et aucun produit n est fourni, vous pouvez tout acheter dans une commune voisine. Le restaurant ouvert le soir est très bon et propose aussi des options gluten free très appréciées. La piscine est très agréable.

Spacious rooms. Beautiful property. It’s an ancient castle on a hill so pack light because big luggage and stairs don’t mix well. Food at the restaurant was much better than we anticipated.

The castle grounds are gorgeous and the apartment was minimal but recently renovated and spacious with a lovely terrace. The staff and other guests were very friendly and a pleasure to interact with. A few downsides: No wifi in the apartments; poorly stocked kitchen with basic cooking tools and a mini fridge but no salt/oil/napkins/necessities, so you must bring your own even for a short stay; the pool is not heated which means it is too cold to swim even in late May; no breakfast or lunch available on the property. Overall, if you are looking for a quiet stay in a beautiful place and are prepared to bring everything you need with you, I highly recommend the castle.

A picture postcard location which you will not be disappointed with. Central location to all amenities and the Chianti wine region. Parking available as it does help to have a car as local shops are a short drive away. Huge apartment with everything you will need but there are approximately 40 stairs to the front door, so those with disabilities or the elderly be aware.

We recently stayed at the Castello di Montegufoni, and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. LeTizia and Giuseppe were wonderful at accomodating their guests. The property was clean and beautiful. The views were spectacular. Our apartment was everything we expected. We had more than enough space, and slept well in the quiet of the castle. The castle was an easy drive to Florence, Lucca, Siena, Pisa, San Gimagnano, the Chianti area, the coast, and other attractions. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone considering a vacation in the Tuscany region. Thank you for making our vacation a truly memorable Tuscan experience.
